What does “Wellness” mean in a dogs life?

Nature creates living things with wellness as the design and the way to live life each day. Animals in their natural conditions get all the exercise they need, usually have an adequate food supply, the right weather conditions and a reason to awaken each day and begin again. In essence, those components make up the world in which an animal can be fit, healthy and happy, or basically exhibit ‘wellness’ as a way of life. The overwhelming majority of problems in the life of an animal result from an imbalance in these components. Depending upon the individual dog, the breed, and the relationship the dog has with its human counterparts, there are programs and activities that can promote wellness in any animal.
Riverview boards and houses its customers with this in mind. Some may benefit most from exercise and structure, some from personal attention, some from the camaraderie of people and other animals. Some thrive when challenged with new things; training of new or better behaviors and some just love a good swim every day. Above all the dogs are in an environment tailored for them. With all dogs housed at Riverview for any period of time, it is with the wellness of that individual that drives the efforts and time spent with the dog.

Hunting Dog Special:

Available per your request are pre and post competition massages on site at AKC Hunt tests or Field Trials.

A pre-competition massage warms up muscles and prepares your dog for the work at hand. By doing this, it increases the circulation, which will bring additional oxygen and blood flow to the muscles.

A post-competition massage helps to look for any injuries that might have occurred during the competition. They can be pointed out to the handler who can take veterinary action if so desired. This type of massage also promotes the removal of lactic acid in their muscles (yes dogs too, like humans do get lactic acid build up after strenuous activities) which results from intense activity. Lastly, post-competition massage relaxes and calms the dog after an intense activity.
